Tyson Foods Protest

The following photos were shot on 04/10/2023 at Tyson Foods in Van Buren, Arkansas. Close to 100 employees went on strike to protest for workers rights. On May 12, 2023 the plant will permanently close and over 900 will be without jobs. Hourly employees who stay on until the end will receive a $1000 dollar bonus (taxed 40%). Supervisors and management are being given severance packages but not hourly employees, many of whom have worked at the plant for over twenty five years. Hourly employees would like to have a severance package for their hard work and loyalty to the company based on years served. Corporate lackeys from Tyson threatened to have law enforcement remove protesters from the property by 1:00pm Monday. As of Wednesday April 12 they are still protesting and plan on doing so until their voices are heard.

UPDATE

As of Monday April 17th 2023 the protest is no more due to piss poor organization and lack of communication. It is unclear whether employees who went on strike will receive the $1000 dollar stay on bonus promised to all employees who work until the plants closure. No severance package will be offered to hourly employees despite how many years of service devoted to the company. Tyson has told employees at the Van Buren plant management and supervisors will receive a severance package based on years of service. The plant closed May 12, 2023.
