National Hobo Convention

Britt, Iowa has hosted the National Hobo Convention for over 100 years. Hoboes and tramps make the journey each year to witness a new Hobo King and Queen get crowned, pay their respects to the ones who caught the westbound, and enjoy each others fellowship. Not all hoboes feel it is worth the trip though, at least not anymore. I’ve talked to a number of veteran hoboes who feel it isn’t what it use to be, that it has become a joke, and feel like they are being exploited. I recently asked Hobo Shoestring if he was going to be making the trip to Britt this year to run for King. The following is how he feels about the “convention”.
